A Brief Introduction ...
Our library began as a children's book club in 1939 with a collection of 125 books. Through the dedication and vision of local citizens it has grown over the years into a busy, active community library of over 40,000 items in a variety of formats.

The Annville Free Library is dedicated to providing the best possible library service to the communities of Annville, North Annville, South Annville and Cleona.

We offer many services, an accommodating environment and access to information locally, regionally, statewide and around the world.

Inclement Weather Closings
The library will be closed when the Annville Cleona School District is closed due to inclement weather. Every effort will be made to post the closing on WLBR and WITF radio stations. It is our policy to put a free day on our circulation system for each day we are closed so those with materials due will not be fined.

Internet Access
The Annville Free Library currently has seven public Internet terminals as well a wireless hotspot. Internet access is free of charge. Internet sessions and printing on public PC's are managed through SAM software. Please ask for and read our Internet Use Policy.

Internet Use Policy:

• The Internet is a resource that enables library patrons to connect to information beyond that is contained in the Library’s collection. Currently it is an unregulated medium. While it does contain a wealth of materials that are personally, professionally and culturally enriching to individuals of all ages, it also allows access to some materials that may be offensive, illegal, and/or inaccurate.
• The Annville Free Library does not monitor and has no control over any material obtained on the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for its content.
• All Internet resources accessible through the Library's public access computers are provided at one of four levels of filtering corresponding to the age of the patron as required by the State of Pennsylvania. Wireless Internet access at the library is also filtered as required by law.
• As filtering devices are not foolproof, parents or guardians, not the Library or its staff, are responsible for their children’s use of the Internet through the Library’s connection.
• It is therefore recommended that parents supervise their children’s Internet use.

Public Internet Workstation Users Agreement
By using a public Internet workstation at the Annville Free Library, you agree to the following guidelines.

Accessing the Internet: Public access to the Internet is available through Smart Access Management (SAM) software. SAM keeps track of the length of time one uses a computer at the Annville Free Library and throughout the Lebanon County Library System. The SAM software asks computer users to enter their library card number and a PIN number at the start of computer sessions. For out of county patrons who do onot have a library card a one-day visitor pass is available at the circulation desk. Users are provided with a total of two hours of computer time each day. The two hours of computer time can be distributed throughout the day. Computer time may be extended by a staff member if computers are not being heavily used.

Printing: Each public PC prints to a black and white laser printer. Copies are $.20 per page. SAM software also manages printing resources at the library. Patrons must have adequate funds in their account to cover printing. Funds may be added to an account up to the amount of $20.00 at the circulation desk.

Age Restriction: Due to the expense of our computer equipment we do not allow children 8 years of age or younger to access our public PC's without parent or guardian supervision.

Getting Help: The Library’s staff will assist patrons with Internet use as time and expertise permits. Library staff has varied amounts of experience in using the Internet. We cannot at this time provide in-depth assistance as we are learning along with you.

Third Party Media: The use of thmb drives or flash drives is permitted within the context of the inappropriate use guidelines.

Getting Help: The libdrary's staff will assist patrons with Internet use as time and expertise permits. Library staff has varied amounts of experience in using the Internet. We cannot at this time provide in-depth assistance as we are learning along with you.

Inappropriate Internet Use Guidelines
Use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in a suspension, and eventually cancellation, of this privilege.

Examples of inappropriate use include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Violation of computer system integrity.
• Unauthorized tampering with computer hardware or software.
• Violation of software license agreements and copyright laws.
• Violation of another user’s privacy.
• Use of sound or visuals that might be disruptive to others.
• Viewing pornographic materials.
• Use of personal software.
• Use of Library Internet workstations for commercial purposes.
• Use of Internet resources for any illegal purpose or for the promotion of illegal activities.
• Users are responsible for damage to equipment beyond what occurs through normal use.

Wireless Access Policy

The Annville Free Library’s wireless network is free and available to the general public and adheres to all the terms and conditions set forth in the Lebanon County Library System’s Public Computer Use Policy.

Use of the library’s wireless network is governed by the library’s Internet Use Policy and the Inappropriate Internet Use Guidelines. By using the wireless network, patrons are agreeing to abide by these policies. It is the patron’s responsibility to read the policies before accessing the network. These policies can be found at the circulation desk, posted at the computer center, or on the library’s website.

No special passwords are needed to access the wireless network. Patrons are expected to know how to configure their laptop or wireless devices for wireless use. The library does not offer wireless access support.

 The Annville Free Library can not be responsible for any changes you make to your computer’s or device’s settings, nor will we help you configure your computer. If you need assistance, contact the manufacturer for your hardware or software.

The Annville Free Library does not provide encryption or other security features for its free wireless service. Users should not transmit credit card information, passwords or any other sensitive personal or business information over the library’s wireless network. Patrons assume all risks and responsibilities to provide anti-virus protections and appropriate security settings on their laptop or wireless devices.

Most wireless equipment will be compatible. However, the Annville Free Library makes no guarantees as to the compatibility of our equipment.

Printers are NOT available to wireless users in the library. You may download documents to a flash drive or e-mail them to your own account and print them from the library‘s public access computers. The public access computers are available during normal library business hours.

Patrons should be certain that their laptops or other wireless devices are secured at all times and should never be left unattended in the library, even for brief periods. The Annville Free Library is not responsible for stolen property.
